Lose no time; be always employed in something useful; cut out unnecessary actions. I chose to do industry because it is something I have been taught throughout my life. Ever since I was just a child my family has taught me to always be doing something and to never waste time doing something that I will not need for the future and focus on the important things. My grandfather has been working all his life and he has never stopped a day. I learned from him that you just never waste time at all when you want something done. You also never trust anyone to do the job that you could do yourself. Always work and don’t even really take breaks, but I have learned that if you do make them quick and to the point. Never ever waste time on something that could take you five minutes but you wait and it takes you and hour or so. Bottom line is to do what you do and not to waste any time at all and not to stop for something not needed.
What I am going to do over the next two weeks to perfect the virtue of industry is to basically stick to what I do but increase it somehow. I’m not exactly sure how I am going do this but I know that there is always room for improvement in everything that I do. Maybe it will be that I stay an extra few hours at the milking parlor or I take the beagle pups out for a little longer. Whatever it is that I do it won’t be wasteful and it will have a purpose. Everything done at the farm and at my own house will be done for a reason and not to just play around.
Update #1
For the past few days I have been working nonstop. It ranges from working at the farm to fixing things at my own house. We have five beagles and we are training the three pups to run rabbits. I have been taking them out every night since I got Pup on Saturday. They are doing well so my work is paying off. At the farm we have some new cows that are being milked for the first time and they like to shove you against the other cows. They shove and push with every thing they have so as you cannot milk them. We also have new calves that have to be bottle fed every four hours. At the house we are building a new chicken coop that we are running on basically no supplies. I am also helping to build a new dog run so the beagles have more room. So basically I haven’t had any leisure time to do anything but work. Which is exactly how I like it.
Update #2
On the weekends it’s a whole lot more work then the weekdays. I get up with the sun and I usually don’t get to bed till 10 or later. But this weekend hit me hard with the loss of Sarah Hurley. The day I found out I way on a plane heading to Oklahoma for my Great Aunt’s funeral. I had double the hurt in one day. But of course when my grandmother, my mom, and I got out to Oklahoma I was put straight to work on the farm. Since my great uncle was in too much pain to do it all himself I offered to do everything. And that’s exactly what I did. Robert owns a 300-acre horse ranch. So I went about on a 4-wheeler checking fence everyday and taking care of the horses. He has about 28 horses that range from foals to old broods. He also has 3 wild mustangs that he offered to tame. So even though I wasn’t home and I figured I would get a little bit of a break but of course I didn’t. I was working sun up to sun down everything from mucking stalls to washing the horses. But as always I have to be working and believe me I was working nonstop.
